At Grateful Dogs, every life matters. We are also aware that shelters are in crisis. Shelters are overflowing. Rescues are full and overwhelmed. Litters are being born faster than anyone can save them which creates greater stress on shelters already in crisis. Healthy, friendly dogs (& puppies) are being euthanized in shelters every day due to lack of space and the unwanted, abandoned animals keep coming in. We cannot adopt or foster ourselves out of this animal welfare crisis. What is an answer? Spaying and Neutering.
For the Love of Miley, named for former shelter dog, Miley Marie, is a new initiative by Grateful Dogs born out of love, compassion & empathy. We want to help pet owners here in Simpson County, KY prevent unwanted litters by helping them spay & neuter their at-risk pets. What is an at-risk pet? An unaltered dog (or cat) who resides with or has contact with other unaltered animals. By helping reduce the pet population with spaying-neutering, the goal is to decrease animal shelter intakes. It won’t happen overnight, but we’ve got to start!
Do you have an at-risk pet? Do you have a neighbor or other community member that has an at-risk pet? Be part of the solution. Knock on your neighbor’s door and offer them your assistance in getting their pets spayed / neutered.
